This cooking class will teach you about making "Mother" sauces. A sauce is the crowning glory of any dish. From the basic "Five Mother" sauces (Bechamel, Veloute and Espagnole, Tomat and Hollandaise), there are literally hundreds of variations that can be made which are used to dress, compliment, enhance and bring out the flavor of the food it is served with.
In this class we will go over the basics of making each sauce including the traditional base, thickening agent, classical flavorings, the common secondary sauces made from the mother sauce, what it is classically served with and of course how to make it!
Learning how to cook is a lifelong process that is rewarding and challenging! Learning the cooking basics will help you build a good solid base in hopes that you will realize your love of cooking. We will explore the cooking basics of the professionals and instill the right foundational knowledge for you to begin your journey!
